The word "collaborations" is the title's most significant, indicating that each photographed object represents the combined genius of the Austrian-based crystal producer and an individual designer, jeweler, or couturier. The exceptional strength of this book is its drop-dead beautiful photography. This resulted in a unusual decision to confine background information and interpretive text to pamphlet inserts smaller in size than the book overall.Four chapters-- focused on fashion, jewelry, performance, and design--account for the main part of the book, with introductory pieces including a preface by Nadja Swarovski, whose greatgreat-grandfather founded the crystal company 120 years ago, and excellent background information on the history of the firm. I was very disappointed in this book. I understood it would include different projects from swarovski however it's 95% fashion photos! There's maybe 10 pictures of jewelry (and not even their better pieces from my point of view!). I got it for my mom because we both bead and use swarovskis a lot, I expected some fashion pictures but not this ration.That being said if you want a fashion angle from swarovski this book could be great, the pictures were pretty good for the most part, and the book is pretty thick (great for a coffee table).

Such a darling book! I bought it for my niece's 2nd birthday to go along with a play tea set.

This book is wonderful! All round! The pages are perfect! The drawings that help tell the story are so beautiful. The story is great and makes me think of drinking tea with my own grandmother. My niece is sure to love this for her 1st Christmas!

I love this book! A sweet little rhyming story of having a first tea party. It describes getting an invitation, dressing up and wearing gloves (so then I HAD to order myself and granddaughter gloves) having tea and treats, saying a little prayer of thanks, and enjoying each other's company. Very sweet for small girls to learn about tea parties! Can't wait to read this to my grand daughter when we have her first tea party!

I loved this board book. I ordered it to give as favors for my daughter's birthday party. I know that some reviewers didn't like that it contained a prayer, but that was my favorite part.

Absolutely love this book!!!! We purchased this book for our youngest granddaughter to go with her first Tea Set we bought her. Pretty book, nice story. I was actually pleased to read this myself. I thought..."Oh, another cute baby book", but it was really very cute. plenty of words, nice little size for little hands to hold even if they can't read yet.

Bought this as a present for my 2 year old goddaughter (along with a teaset) and she loved it. She sat down immediately and started flipping thru pages, and "reading" it. It's a very cute little story, and was perfect to pair with the teaset.

In Arlem Hawks debut book, A Steadfast Heart, a retelling of The Steadfast Tin Soldier, she masterfully tells a tale of a love that transcends societal expectations. Robert, a former Navy Lieutenant, who lost both his leg and his hope in a war, never thought love was possible. Holly, a woman trying to rise above the poverty of her past, finds a love with Robert that is more than she ever expected. I loved following Robert and Holly as they found their HAE and highly recommend A Steadfast Heart!I received an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

It was a pretty good book, based on an almost forgotten fairytale, The Steadfast Tin Soldier. The Steadfast Heart was better than most Regency romances, in my opinion, in that it wasn't super precious about using stereotypical Regency-speak, if that makes sense. I didn't feel like the author was trying for a moment to convince me that "this is set in Jane Austen's time and it's authentic, dammit". It was easy to read, with characters who felt real.

It was a roller coaster ride for me wondering how this re-telling would wrap up. I loved it. Holly fits the personality I would expect of the little ballerina, and Robert fits the romantic and lovelorn steadfast tin soldier. Creative twists make this a page-turner.

The soldier in this lovely fairy tale is not made of tin, but is a handsome real navy lieutenant injured in battle.

I did not know this fairy tale at all and had to read a synopsis of it to have any idea of it. But in reading that I could see little elements in The Steadfast Heart that were drawn from the original tale of The Steadfast Tin Soldier. It isn't the same story but Ms. Hawks obviously drew from it to write her own tale.I thought this tale was well written. I loved Robert and how he worked so hard to keep smiling in difficult circumstances. Initially Holly was pretty haughty and seemed spoiled despite being raised in poverty. But then seemingly pretty suddenly her heart is softened and she is kind to Robert. She is kind of wishy-washy for a bit but gets stronger as the story goes on. And then the reader can love her as much as Robert.I might have enjoyed more of a confrontation between Robert and Mr. Pelham allowing others to see his true character but perhaps the author is not as vindictive as I.I have enjoyed each novella in this series so far and I look forward to reading more from this author. Oh, how I hated that haughty ballerina, but what a dear the steadfast tin soldier! Fantastic to see that haughtiness melt away in this retelling of the old fairytale.Ms. Hawks does a good job translating the fairy tale of a tin soldier and a paper doll ballerina into this regency-era novella with rounded characters.

When I heard that this book was a retelling of The Steadfast Tin Soldier, I was surprised and intrigued. I love retellings and have read a lot of them, but that particular story is not one I've seen retold. Plus, from what I remembered of the story (and, yes, I refreshed my memory before reading this book), things didn't exactly go all that well, so it seemed an unusual choice. So, congrats to the author for doing something new and making it work (and not end in tragedy, as the original does). So, we have Robert and Holly. Robert is a soldier who lost his leg in the war, and Holly is a young lady who seems to have all the world open before her. And, it must be said, she's rather a spoilt brat and thinks very little of Robert from their first meeting. Then, things don't go so well for her, and she gets sent to her aunt in Cornwall (which is about as country as you can get). And, of course, while she's there, she meets Robert again. This is a quick, clean read and well-edited. It's much harder to like Holly than Robert, but although she can be a brat, we do get to see the pain and insecurity behind it all. So, she comes across mostly as a confused, hurting child needing to grow up, which is easier to sympathize with. And, of course, eventually she does grow up. I received an ARC. I was not required to write a review but chose to do so and the opinions stated are my own.

The Steadfast Heart is an absolutely delightful, clean, and lovely retelling of the Steadfast Tin Soldier.I read it in one sitting and wanted more!Lieutenant Robert Brenton lost a foot saving a friend at the battle of Trafalgar. He slowly recovered but feels now he has no real place in the world. He is lonely but tries to keep up his good spirits and belief that all will be well.Miss Holly Addison is a gentleman's daughter, beautiful, bright, witty, graceful and very young. She is lively but vain, vapid and shallow. She is however, engaged to Miles Pelham, the toast of the ton. She meets Lieutenant Robert Brenton at a dance, as her brother is the man he had saved. She is embarrassed by his affliction. Everything is going well until suddenly Miles breaks their engagement, leaving her heartbroken and her reputation in ruins.She is banished by her family to Cornwall, to stay with a distant relative. Little does she know, Lieutenant Robert Brenton will be staying there as well! They have an inauspicious meeting and things seem to go downhill.I just loved Lieutenant Robert Brenton. The author did a wonderful job showing his caring, positive outlook and truly steadfast heart. I liked how she showed how difficult is was to come home damaged from war in that day and time.Holly was more difficult to like because she had much farther to go. However, I think the author did a lovely job showing her to have a good heart as well, despite her basically being a teen-age brat. I love how she incorporated the tin heart in the fire as well.And the characters weren't overly sweet, overly dramatic, overly villainous or too thin. They read like real people.This truly is a lovely story. I look forward to more from this author!

Really a great book. So many awesome portraits.... those "soul capture" moments. Love that this includes practically every iconic surfer still alive. However, it also captures many of the behinds the scenes folks like JoJo and Joe Roper (personal favorite set of photographs in the book). Also, some great pictures of kids and adults from countries all over the the world who surf. Overall, just and amazing book to put on your coffee table and pick up and check out over and over again.

After watching Perfect Blue by director Satoshi Kon, I was extremely interested in learning more about the theme of memory and how it applied to some of my other favorite anime films. However, this text was unbearable to read. I thought the introductory chapter was wordy, but gave the next chapter the benefit of the doubt. Halfway through the first chapter I could not bring myself to read any further. The language was lofty and the writing style was reminiscent of the structure most college professors would fail you over. Maybe I did not give Cavallaro enough of a chance with this text, but a number of reviews from other users said just what I was thinking within the first two chapters. Better luck next time, but I certainly wouldn't spend $14.74 on this ebook.
