About the Author
Brooke S. Blades is an archaeologist and historian whose research has included examinations of sites form World War II in France, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg. This book was better than I expected because it consists of 252 pages of mostly photos - the absolute majority new to me. The captions are mostly very informative and the book includes good credits, notes and references. A few of the photos I had seen before - but Brooke Blades has then provided a better caption than in previous publications. Several of the images are not only interesting for military historians but are just magnificent as photographs - I was just amazed I had not seen these before. Several maps and after the battle photographs make this book a must also to bring along on my next trip to Normandy.
