This is normally a complete, valuable and reliable resource. It was written as boiler plate before Congress radically changed the tax laws at year end. It is of very little value for this year and as of 2/1/18 has no updated information. It should never have been published.

I would like a full credit issued to my account. The book has nothing to do with 2018 taxes. It is clearly for 2017 and i was mislead when i ordered it. The information does reflect the tax laws and changes that went into effect after December 31, 2017.

I'm disappointed I purchased. Assumed it would have the new tax law information within the book since the title says "Tax Guide 2018" and even includes a sub-title on cover saying, "Latest 2017 tax law changes at your fingertips." Misleading.

The product is misleading. While it's titled "2018" it is for the 2017 year. Be careful, or you'll just end up paying for return shipping for nothing.

I buy these every year. Good reference books.

Although this is normally an excellent resource, due to the late changes in the tax laws it is ineffective.

I apologize in advance for not being very good at giving reviews.I've been reading the experiences of NDErs on websites like Jeffrey Long's for years now. NDE's fascinated me from a pretty young age (I believe I started looking into them at age 14-15). Over the years I became more and more agnostic in my beliefs - I wanted to believe, but I had my doubts.This book reminded me of why I believed in my younger years. The stories you find on www.nderf.org and in this book are fascinating to say the least. And reading it helped me feel better about the end of life. NDE stories have that affect on me - I view them as a positive sign that we will all receive a positive end to our physical lives. Either they prove the afterlife as a very real and wonderfully beautiful place, or it proves that our brains give us a beautiful way to end our existence. Obviously Jeffrey Long believes the former. I'm still a bit agnostic myself, but lean towards the former as well. Either scenario gives me some hope - which is the beauty of NDE stories, in my opinion.As for the book: I do like that Dr. Long addressed common skeptical responses. I wish that he addressed more, or maybe even had a chapter dedicated to responses to skeptics.I found his 9 points to be rather compelling. Especially the fact that people have had verified OBE, and that those born blind have a concept of "seeing" in their NDE's - something they cannot do in dreams. But I do wish he had more of a sample size for certain points: like the chapters about children and non-western NDE's. Dr. Long could only deal with what information he had, but I still did raise a few eyebrows on some of the conclusions he jumped to given such a small sample size, especially for the children and Non-Western NDE chapters. I do wonder if a larger amount of stories to include in the study could have altered any corresponding similarities or add to statistically significant differences between groups (i.e.: Comparing adult NDEs to child NDEs)Otherwise I think this is a must read for anyone who is interested in NDE stories and research. I'm definitely glad I gave this book a chance. It renewed my interest in NDE stories.

I don't want to type a long winded review though I definitely could. I'm so glad I decided to read this. This was first time in my 44 years of life I ever actually read or heard about an NDE and it's not even just the evidence presented in the book, but also something deep inside me that is telling me this is real and I should believe it. I have come to trust my intuition. We were wired with it for a reason. I don't believe for a minute that hundreds and even thousands of people either made this up or hallucinate. People wouldn't have that Similar of a hallucination, that doesn't even make sense. I have never had a near death experience but I feel profoundly changed as a person. I started changing about 17 months ago when some really bad stuff happened in my life and I discovered the power of meditation. From there I began a transformation I can only describe as a spiritual awakening and one thing after another led to more questions. I think we are meant to ask these questions in our life. It feels right. Like I'm on the path I'm supposed to be. Then this book came to me. Seemingly just at the right time and it has answered more questions and filled more gaps. I am changed forever and continuing to change and that's a good thing. Keep an open mind and an open heart. If you remain a skeptic you may miss out on many wonderful things. Also maybe your chi is blocked. We are spiritual beings and the way society is today so far away from everything that is important in life it makes it almost automatic to dismiss such views because they just don't fit into what you've been told to believe your whole life. That's cognitive dissonance. Think back to when you picked up your beliefs about the world. Likely most of them were when you were a toddler when you first started programming your neural pathways that shaped who you are today. You have the power to choose what you want to believe, what feels true to you. Don't let what others told you to believe affect your perception of these peoples stories. I frequently was brought to tears, happy tears, while reading this and something told me that this in fact was true. So much for this not being long winded but if I can help at least one other person feel the profound change I feel from reading this then it was worth it. I too feared death my entire life. I don't feel that anymore.

When she spends a fabulous night with Gabe and finds out she is pregnant she decides to have this baby on her own, but when she meets up again with Gabe and he discovers she is pregnant he steps in and is determined to have a part in his child’s life, this is so very hard for Zoe as she is so used to doing everything on her own but the feelings are growing all the time.This really is a lovely story one that brings all sorts of emotions flying off the pages, they did struggle to get to that HEA, Gabe had such a hard time putting Zoe before work and Zoe was so independent, but love won out and a beautiful HEA happened. This is a story that ticks all of the boxes for a great romance and medical one that I recommend reading.

Susan Carlisle skillfully interweaves the field of medicine with personal matters to create an abundance of compelling situations. The result is a story filled with joy, anguish, and uncertainty. There are a wide range of feelings expressed, and each one is genuine and pulled me even more into the lives of two people who must search deep within themselves for what will make them truly happy. THE BROODING SURGEON’S BABY BOMBSHELL has lots of honest emotion and realistic drama.After attending a meeting related to liver transplants and other connected topics, Dr. Gabriel Marks and Zoe Avery learn their flights have been cancelled. Since they are in town for one more evening, the two enjoy dinner and then a very unforgettable night together. Upon discovering they are having a baby, she thinks he will have no interest in being a father because of his prior comments and plans to make any decisions without his input. But when Gabe finally hears the news, his reaction is not what Zoe had imagined. When the renowned doctor gets a job near her hometown, the nurse advocate wants their relationship to be respectful and not let emotions influence choices about their future.When I read a medical romance by Susan Carlisle, I know there will incidents which deal with life-changing events along with a touching love story. In THE BROODING SURGEON’S BABY BOMBSHELL, Gabe and Zoe have to face unexpected challenges, and their behavior let me know what kind of person they were by how they acted. Though neither anticipated a baby because of their night together, both take responsibility for what happened and led to my respect. Zoe has learned to be independent but secretly would like to be loved, yet fears caused by past history keep her from taking a chance. Gabe has a background that makes him wary of having a family or getting married, and he has to work through some issues, too. Many dilemmas crop up in their lives, and I enjoyed seeing what they would ultimately choose to do.Any health problems that arose seemed very accurate, and situations affecting someone for whom I had come to care were especially captivating. The mother of Zoe is suffering from an illness which changes way too many lives, and I liked how the author handled any effects it caused. Scenes at a hospital were also convincing. Susan Carlisle has written another story with engaging characters and an intriguing premise.I voluntarily reviewed a copy of the book, and all comments are my honest opinion

The Brooding Surgeon’s Baby Bombshell was appealing to me from the beginning to the end. I was consistently entertained as the unraveling plot revealed the hero, Gabe, and the heroine, Zoe’s complicated love story and that led me to a feel good book glow.They both suffered from similar past hurts from their youth which was a bonding element for them but also what divided them. They both had to let go of their fears and not let the past define who they were as adults. I found myself cheering for them to take that leap of faith and trust their hearts to one another.It was refreshing as well as heartwarming to read the love and compassion Zoe and Gabe had for each other as well as their patients – especially so for the empathy that was given in regards to Zoe’s mother. I only wish life’s problems could be as easily solved by falling in love with a rich doctor.I have to mention how much I was relieved that this wasn’t a total clichéd story of woman and a man having a one night stand and she gets pregnant. The Brooding Surgeon’s Baby Bombshell had a quality plot with depth and well-developed characters. There were a couple of surprise plot twists that I didn’t anticipate.I was especially pleased there was a prologue and an epilogue. This book has a good story line, but unfortunately the author did not do her homework. The text is riddled with mistakes. For example, dominant genes are NOT ones we are most likely to inherit; they are ones most likely to be expressed. The gene for white eyes in fruit flies is NOT on the Y chromosome; it is on the X chromosome. Pangolins' tongues do NOT attach to their pelvis. The maps that were made in Thomas Hunt Morgan's lab were NOT DNA sequences; they were linkage maps of genes that were located on the same chromosome. There are likely more problems. These are the ones I found in a quick reading of about half the book. Children deserve accurate information. Are there any scientifically literate children's book editors out there?

The basics of genetics is explained in simple, clear language and reveals the fascinating stories of the researchers who discovered what is now the history of DNA. As readers learn the science of genes they will apply what they learn in a cartoon challenge to help a new detective solve a major crime based on a real-world case. From genetically engineered pets to a dating app that helps Icelanders avoid marrying their cousins readers will learn the history and current application of DNA.The writing was easy to follow and even entertaining, I would hazard a guess and say the science introduced is approximately equivalent to what I was learning in Jr. High (grades 6-9). I speed read a bit through the parts I already knew but even for me there were interesting facts I didn't know. I thoroughly enjoyed the factual portion of this book - it was light hearted and not too "sciency", I even found myself laughing out loud on several occasions. There are a couple ideas in here that I even want to follow up on with more research. This book would be great for pre-teens and teens who already love forensics and science as well as students who are maybe struggling with science and need a way to reignite interest or catch up on some basics.I like non-fiction books, and the description of this book had me really excited. I thought it was going to take me through a crime and how DNA solved it, with the crime activity being the primary part of the book. The description and the cover both made this seem the case. But, sadly, it's not. This is still an excellent introduction to the basics of genetics and the facts alone make the book worth reading but the detective case - the "DNA Detective" - was tacked on as if it were a last minute idea by the marketing agent to draw in more teen readers. If you are looking for a book with a fun activity to keep interest, or pictures like a graphic novel, this is not the book for you.**I received a free ARC in exchange for my honest review.**

We are homeschoolers, and I'm always on the hunt for science books that are interesting and also cover high level concepts rather than "dumbing things down" to make them easy to understand. This book definitely fits the bill!This book has excellent coverage of DNA and genetics, with lots of interesting stories and facts. The pictures and graphics are outstanding and add a lot to the fun of reading this book. We also enjoyed the interactive crime solving, which shows how DNA information could be used in a real-world situation.I'd recommend this book for upper elementary / middle school (possibly with some help on vocabulary for the younger end). I also used it as a read aloud for my second graders with lots of discussion and they got a lot out of it - but we will come back around to it again when they are closer to middle school and can absorb all of the information.Disclosure: I received a copy from NetGalley for review. Loved it enough I am now buying a hard copy from Amazon!

This book is more about genetics than it is about solving a crime. The lesson of each chapter is applied at the end of the chapter in eliminating suspects in the jewelry store heist.Genetics was my favorite part of my AP Biology class back in the early ‘80s, so some of this material was familiar to me. But there was much more that I hadn’t known before—not to mention that the field has made huge advances since I took that AP exam over 30 years ago! The explanatory tone is just right, with just enough levity. It does not come off sounding dumbed down.Note that sperm and eggs and fertilization are mentioned, but not how that fertilization actually takes place.This is a great resource for a school science class. Very educational, but light-hearted mystery-information. I have a genetic disorder and thought I knew about genetics, but I learned a lot from this book. My 9 yr. old twins will inherit it, and I hope they use it for school papers.
